The Medimed Medical Scheme is an Eastern Cape based group that focuses on providing its members this medical care facility that expands to include a host of different elements. The rules of the Scheme indicate that employees currently working with the company and their beneficiaries will be the primary members of the plan. Retirees and respective beneficiaries of such are essentially those members that are also still covered by the plan. Often, the terms and conditions indicated in medical aid program can be quite confusing as there are plenty of these out there in the market.

Medimed Medical Scheme is considered by plenty of members as one that offers the best value for the premiums they pay for the services. Essentially, there are several options that are offered from the Scheme, and each will provide this distinct advantage that sets it apart from others.

The Four Product Groups

Among the first of the product groups of the Medimed Medical Scheme is the Alpha. These are essentially the medical aid systems that are considered as a co-payment scheme. Full coverage for the hospitalisation bills as the tariff rates for the in-hospital costs of general practitioners are covered with the scheme. For the non-admission, the plan still offers a great package as the member can claim around 75 percent of the Medimed Medical Scheme Tariff rates. Dental, auxiliary costs and acute medication requirements are typically covered up to 60 percent of the tariff.

A second product line the company aims to deliver with the excellent service is the Medisave Max. This is the product that comes with the most comprehensive coverage for the medical treatments and such. Unlimited coverage for the hospitalisation benefits in various private hospitals and medical centres is one of the features the product offer.

Perhaps another notable feature that is found with the Medisave Max is the Chronic Medication coverage, which essentially covers quite an extensive list of Prescribed Minimum Benefits. In fact, on added advantage this product list has offered the market is the extra R3000 that are offered for each beneficiary. The daily benefits for the product are derived from the Savings Account, which is typically around 25 percent of the monthly premiums paid to the account.

The third product line offered by the company is the Medisave Standard. This is the product that offers these comprehensive in-hospital benefits, which means that any treatments needed while the patient is inside the hospital will be paid for appropriately. Typically, thought, the ceiling limits of the product are lower as compared to that of the Medisave Max. For the Chronic conditions and benefits, the beneficiaries are given this R1,500 for a total of R3,000 per family.

The Managed Care Program of the Medimed Medical Scheme is one of the most extensive in the market. It comes with the coverage for hospitalisation benefits from preferred providers. A list of committed providers is usually those that are only allowed to give the necessary treatments for the patient. General Practitioners covered under this list are typically those structured under the Nelson Mandela Metropole.
